It is well documented that people who struggle with excessive emotional distress are at higher risk for health problems, drug and alcohol use, increased physical pain, sleep problems, relationship problems, financial distress, and job insecurity.

Anxiety & Panic
Everyone experiences feelings and physical symptoms of stress when dealing with difficult situations or people. However, people with diagnosed anxiety disorders experience disability as a result of their response to stress. Untreated, their symptoms may prevent them from engaging in social and family relationships, meeting job and school requirements, and participating in other daily activities. Untreated, symptoms can also lead to self-medication with use of drugs and alcohol.
Depression
Feeling down from time to time is a normal part of life, but when emotions such as hopelessness and despair take hold and just won’t go away, you may have depression. More than just sadness in response to life’s struggles and setbacks, depression changes how you think, feel, and function in daily activities. It can interfere with your ability to work, study, eat, sleep, and enjoy life. Just trying to get through the day can be overwhelming. Untreated, symptoms can lead to self-medication with use of drugs and alcohol.
PTSD/Trauma
If you or someone you know has experienced a traumatic event, it's important to be aware of the signs of PTSD, which may include re-experiencing the traumatic event, avoiding reminders of the event, and negative changes in thoughts and feelings. Depression, anxiety symptoms, and feelings of stress are also common in people with PTSD. Untreated, symptoms can lead to self-medication with use of drugs and alcohol. Many symptoms overlap, but they can all be warning signs.
Grief/Loss
For some people, feelings of loss are debilitating and don't improve even after time passes. This is known as complicated or prolonged grief. With this type of grief, painful emotions are so long lasting and severe that you have trouble recovering from the loss and resuming your own life. You may feel intense emotions or have trouble accepting the loss. Complicated or prolonged grief can affect your physical health, interpersonal relationships and daily responsibilities.
Life Transitions
Humans are creatures of habit. We find comfort in routines and the familiar, and this makes adjusting to new situations, even positive ones, a complex process. When we’re faced with significant changes, we often feel a loss of control. This loss can be disorienting and anxiety-inducing. Transition periods are often marked by uncertainty. We may not know what the future holds, and this can create stress and worry. Even positive life transitions can involve a sense of loss. Leaving behind the old for the new can be bittersweet.
Self Esteem
People with low self-esteem may be critical of themselves and ignore their positive qualities. They may also believe they are inferior to others, unlovable, or a burden. They may have trouble accepting compliments from others, which can make it difficult for others to express their positive feelings. They feel insecure about speaking up for their needs, which can leave them feeling vulnerable or hurt. They lack confidence, which can lead them to avoid social environments and increase their loneliness.
There are times when it seems that no one around you can relate to your experiences or emotions, leaving you feeling disconnected and alone. This sense of alienation can deepen feelings of anxiety or depression, making everyday life more challenging.
I provide a non-judgmental space to explore these feelings, offering insights and strategies that can help you navigate through difficult moments. I foster a sense of understanding and validation that may be lacking in your current relationships.
